EEEK! I go through to the finals in the Best Business Mum of the year awards. Super exciting. It got me thinking though. Do we really need awards to confirm our own brilliance?
The answer that popped into my head was a great big YES! So of course the cog wheels are now in full motion… and my curious and questioning mind is saying but why?
Let’s dive into this!! What does it mean to you to have external validation? Social Proof? A seal of approval? Is this really needed in life? Of course! Is the logical answer. But the emotional answer is very different indeed.
Dig deep into your emotional answer and ask yourself now where does this answer come from?
You may find this answer relates to unhealed childhood wounds, the emotional answer could indeed be your inner child, reaching out and screaming for the love and acceptance that you may never have received. The approval that you’ve done a good job, the hope that you will one day be accepted and receive the acknowledgement for all the blood, sweat and tears you’ve put into being a success.
However; there is another turn of events here… something to really consider and that is the social positioning, how can you be socially positioned as an authority figure in your field if you don’t have the stamp of approval… the credits that warrant the need to be seen, heard and known for what you do.
TRUTH BOMB….
If you worried that you need to have accreditation, social proof and validation for who you are and what you are thriving to be. This belief is stemmed from NOT feeling good enough. Let me tell you now… there is nothing in this world that can validate who you are, what you do or who you aspire to be… Literally NOTHING… Let me repeat that. There is nothing in this world that can VALIDATE YOU.
The only person that can do that is YOU.
Take a step back… take a deep breathe and learn to validate your own worth, your own existence. Seeking external validation is only going to set you up for a life of misery, but is going to come at a heavy cost when things don’t go the way you had hoped. Waiting for things / people to validate you is the number 1 reason why so many women fail to show up in their business, to be seen.
There is another solution though… Focus on trusting yourself and validating the inner belief that you are more than GOOD ENOUGH with all that you are NOW.
